The weather today was freezing, as we had to film the entire film outside me and Abbi were so cold, we thought that it would be a good idea to only film the first scene of our Trapped film and do the rest on monday as we had to be outside for ages. We decided it would be a good idea to check mondays weather for cast so we went onto the bbc website to see if the weather conditions were good enough to film on monday

horror stills final
In the horror stills project our group was made up of Me, Josh, Mel and Beth. We each had an individual role throughout the project. I was given the task of taking all of helping Beth take the pictures that were used to create the sequence. We started the project by designing a storyboard. After doing the story board we went out and took the pictures, then we were no longer working in a group and had to edit the stills to make a sequence individually. I uploaded the pictures to Photoshop and edited some to make them look effective. I then chose a scary soundtrack to go wth the sequence then added the title and the credits.
This was the final outcome:

light painting tutorial
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4IS-DBZEXcA
This video is a tutorial of how to do light painting which me and Abbi have decided to use for the opening to our 'Trapped' short movie. This video explains what you need, how you do it and what setting you need on your camera and more. This video really helped me and Abbi to get the right settings for us to achieve a perfect opening sequence for our film.
Light painting is opening the exposure long enough to use a light source
First you need a camera with the exposure settings set to 10-15 seconds. You will also need a tripod to keep the camera secure and still. Lastly you will need a light source, either a torch or a strobe light the camera you use must have a manual setting which will allow you to adjust the shutter speed

blog post 6
In these lessons we went onto a website called the art of the title to look at well known films opening sequences to get ideas for our 'Trapped' opening sequence. Me and Abbi decided to make the opening sequence a kind of hint to what is going to happen in our 'Trapped' short film. Our opening scene is going to consist of flickering images of me getting ready for the party, and the woods, then at the end of the opening sequence its going to turn to me looking really scared and heavy breathing. After this the film is going to begin right from the start, so during the opening sequence the audience would become really gripped and intrigued to see what is going to happen in the film.

trapped target audience member
In this session we had to make a spider diagram of the types of brands our audience member would like. This is my idea of what our audience member for our 'Trapped' short film would be interested in. I think that the audience member would like these sort of things, because, based on our ideas for our trapped short film I would enjoy a film like this, and these are the kind of things that I am interested in. Some of the brands in the diagram, such as the alcohol and the clothing brands are used in our film,so if the audience and the character in the film are using the same product, the audience member feels as if they are linked to the protagonist.

trapped mood board
in this lesson i made my trapped mood board i used pictures that would be represented in our trapped short film and the setting of our film in process, the the split pathway inthe moodboard is very important as in film me and abbi are stuck between the road we know and the woods and have to make a very tough desision on which way to go. Each one of these pictures tell the story of our film in process.

find your tribe
In this lesson we had to go onto find your tribe.co.uk and answer a series of questions to find out which social group we are in. The answer i got was that i was a 'rah' this is not very correct, as from the description it makes out that i am rich, and have no value for money. I do wear jack wills and abercrombie, however i do not think i am like the description they had for the group i am apparently in. The test said that i also show signs of being a chav, which is completely un true as there is literally nothing chavvy about me. I do not think that people should really do these questions to see what group they are in as based on the answer i got i don't think that the test is very accurate.

trapped initial planning part 2
the next part of our planning for our film was to set our final idea for a film out on to a clear timeline, with our ideas set out into a beginning, middle and end format. This made the planning a lot easier as it was set out in a clear, organized way. Our final idea was for a girl to take a short cut through the woods to get to a party that she is running late for. She soon feels as if she is being watched and followed, as she becomes scared there is going to be a lot of close ups on her face so you can see how she is feeling. We then add a twist to the story, her friend who is also late for the party, comes up behind her, so she thinks that the person chasing her is actually her friend. However, when she thinks she is safe a person comes out of the woods and attacks her and drags her off. I think that this adds a lot of drama and twists in a short amount of time and is very effective.
trapped initial planning
in this lesson we had to plan ideas for our 'trapped' short film. We had to think of a scenario in which the character/characters were trapped. We watched a short film called Desserts to get an idea of how to create drama and effect in a short amount of time. The title 'Trapped' to me, insinuates that the film should have a lot of drama. Every groups film had to incorporate the title into the film, so the character had to be trapped in some sort of way. Me, Richard and Sam decided that it would be a lot easier and more organized if the victim of being trapped was only one character, rather than a larger group as this would be harder to film. In the initial planning of the film, we had decided that the character would be trapped in the woods. We thought that this would have a lot of effect and drama in a short space of time.

logo ident
When we did our logo ident, we were developing our logo ideas on photoshop. We used 3 or 4 layers on photoshop to create our logo and used different pictures to create the logo. I used a spade picture from photoshop to use as my logo picture, as i thought this was quite an original logo. We then used a website called dafont to select and download which font we wanted for our logo company name. I called my logo company, 'ace of spades productions' as i thought this was quite good, as it actually related to the spade picture.
q1) the thing i found most difficult to do on photoshop, was to create the logo, and make it look how i wanted it too, in the end i got there, and now know how to do it, so i have learnt something
q2)
q3) the thing i am most pleased was, was that i actually got my logo done, as at first i didn't really know what to do and became quite annoyed but once i had understood what to do i was more confident in using photoshop
media production company logo planning session
in this lesson we were planning our personal media production logo, we were given paper to draw and annotate our ideas and to develop any that we thought would work well. Everybody's idea's for their logo were individual, and we thought and developed our logos to how we wanted them to look and to how we thought would look good.

logo research session
In this session, we were researching logos of our choice and finding out information about them such as, what type of product it is, what the purpose of the product is etc. We were give a piece of paper where we had to write down the information we found out about the company, draw a picture of the logo with annotations about the font and colour. The two logos i picked were Chanel and Jack wills, i chose to do these because i like the style of them.
photoshop skills session 1:club flyer task
the second thing that we had to produce on photoshop was a club flyer. We chose a picture from flickr to put as our flyer background, relating to the music of our choice we then downloading the picture and opened it up in photoshop, making sure that the page was A5 and landscape. We then made the picture of our choice the background. After we done this we added other pictures that were related to music and blended it into the background so it looked like one picture instead of two separate ones. When we were happy with our background we had to name our club, and write details on it such as opening/closing times, cost, what kind of music it was etc. We had to be very specific with the font and font colour as we wanted the font to stand out but still be readable. After we had put the text onto the flyer and we were happy with it we uploaded it to flickr and the flyer was complete.

photoshop skills session 1:earth & eye excercise
In our first lesson, we produced an earth and eye picture. We used two pictures to create this image. First of all we collected an image of the earth off flickr and opened it up in photo shop,we also did the same with the eye picture. We moved the picture of the earth so it was on the same page as the eye and used a tool to cut out the remaining area of the earth picture so we were just left with the earth and not the background. After this we used the eye picture as a guide so we knew how much we needed to reduce/increase the size of the earth picture so it fitted well with the iris in the eye picture. Once we had the earth the same size as the iris we used the blending tool so that the earth picture blended in with the eye and looked like the iris. After this we had completed our picture, however some people, including myself chose to edit the picture to make the earth iris stand out more, using the tools on photo shop, i clicked on the different layers on the bottom right hand size and edited them to how i thought looked good, and made it stand out. I made the background of the eye black and white , and the iris a bright cyan colour.I liked this look because the iris was the main focus in the picture, after this i saved my work and uploaded it to flickr then it was complete.
